What is PASMA Training?

A PASMA training course can be a vital part of any role involving mobile access towers in October 2023, but it is more than just a qualification. Towers can be an inherently scary piece of equipment, and getting trained in them might seem like a challenging task that will take you months of work to achieve.

However, with good PASMA training courses, our training providers can offer users course options to get them ready for using mobile access towers with the best possible understanding of how they work. If you consider starting your training or know that you have to, our courses can help.

How does PASMA Training Work?

If you are ready to start training under PASMA towers courses and the PASMA Code of Practice, you need to register for the initial training session. If you have already completed Work at Height and are looking into further courses, you must be registered for whatever you plan to take next.

For specific details on the locations where certain courses are taking place, you can contact us about your particular needs. Not all courses are available to practice at all times, and each official training site may only host-specific courses at a time – we can find the nearest site to your location hosting your chosen course.

Health

Good health is essential to many of these scaffold tower training sessions. You may have to go through a basic health assessment for more physical sessions: physically fit candidates will find these courses easier. Depending on the course, if you are not physically fit, you may follow specific safety notices.

Remember that your health can impact your chance of course completion and put your team in danger in a real-world situation. Part of the training assessment is understanding that your work affects your team and that your team requires you to follow regulations while managing your towers.

PASMA Card

Completing specific courses can qualify you for a PASMA photo ID card, certifying that you have attended training courses. Like a license, this tells employers that you are fully qualified to operate these towers. Each card is valid for five years from the day it is issued.

Since your card is only valid for five years, you will have to refresh it every half-decade. This enables you to keep up with current relevant legislation involving mobile access towers and update your record with anything that might interfere with your everyday skills: drug dependence, psychiatric illness, heart disease, high blood pressure or impaired limb function, to name a few.

Suppose you want to know more about what this card offers and how it is given out in the competition of enough training courses, do not hesitate to contact us for an overview of the process. We can also tell you which classes will qualify you and how long it will take to complete said courses.

PASMA Training Costs

PASMA Training courses usually cost around £74.00 to £170.00. The exact price depends on the following:

Benefits of PASMA Training

PASMA certification has a lot of benefits, but the most obvious one is the knowledge associated with this training. Mobile access towers can be a complex piece of equipment to use, and the more you know, the easier it becomes to construct and use them without referring to instruction manuals.

PASMA Training also has the following benefits:

Types of PASMA Training We Offer

Each PASMA course is designed to fit a particular specialist subject, whether situations you will encounter on construction sites or advice on safely assembling and dismantling a standard mobile access tower.

Each course has an expected duration, but this duration can increase if another session is needed for any reason. If you are new to this kind of training, then there is only one place to start:

Work at Height Essentials Course

This starter users’ course aims to cover all of the practical training required to work at heights. The course explains how mobile access towers are used in general and additional details about the other access equipment that a trainee may have to operate in the future.

This is the starting point for most PASMA Training courses, forming the basis that delegates will need if they want to handle practical work in the future.

Since this is an introductory course, successful candidates can move on to any other primary training course they like. If you are unsure how to plan out your future lessons, you can always get in touch and let us know: each course can provide candidates with something new and valuable, no matter their role.

Towers for Users Course

Towers for Users is arguably the most successful PASMA course available, drawing in thousands of delegates each year. This course provides candidates with the knowledge needed to assemble, dismantle, inspect and move mobile access towers of various designs, including AGR and 3T systems.

Low-Level Access Course

The Low-Level course focuses on low-level access units, such as folding steps and folding towers, made from prefabricated components. Delegates are taught to observe regulations and standards while inspecting their units for hazards or potential safety issues.

This course and the previous one are available in a combined PASMA course called Combined Low-Level Access and Towers for Users Course.

Towers on Stairs Course

The Towers on Stairs PASMA training course aims to teach delegates to construct stepped towers, the inherent hazards of using them on stairs, and the practical aspects of making them safe for use. This includes theory and practical sessions spread across a full day of learning.

Towers with Cantilevers Course

This course is meant to provide experienced tower users with a better understanding of complex tower builds, including the calculations needed to manage weight counterbalancing and cantilever designs. It also details additional information about how towers are assembled and properly balanced.

This course is slightly different from others since delegates must have passed Towers for Users first to understand how tower design and construction work at a more superficial level.

Towers for Professional Riggers Course

Towers for Professional Riggers is an even higher-tier towers course that provides delegates with a five-day overview of practical and theory work on unusual tower designs. This is meant to cover stations where standard access towers are insufficient and custom or alternate arrangements are needed.

This can also detail situations where towers have to be built beyond the manufacturer’s instructions for various reasons and how to manage tower stability and height regulations when working with a complex tower design. It includes both theory and practical test and experience sessions.

Towers for Managers Course

Towers for Managers provides further information about tower management and planning to delegates who will not be operating them. This allows managers to get the best experience possible for overviewing assembly, disassembly, movement and adjustment of any towers.

Instructor Training Course

Instructor training is an option for any delegate that wants the knowledge they need to instruct others. Successful representatives can become PASMA instructors and offer their training services to other trainees or peers or use the information to inform another tower team on both theory and practical matters.

Potential instructors must be in a member company of PASMA or currently undertaking PASMA courses. This can also involve some light paperwork, even if you plan to become a freelance instructor that provides the same knowledge to other members, customers and clients.

FAQs

Here are some frequently asked questions about PASMA Training:

Can you do PASMA training online?

Our most popular courses, Towers for Users, Low-Level Access (including the combined approach), and Work at Height Novice, feature online theoretical lessons.

Who needs PASMA training?

A PASMA course is required if you are responsible for constructing, dismantling, adjusting, or inspecting a mobile access tower to comply with Work at Height rules. Anyone utilizing this equipment and operating at a height must demonstrate their ability according to the rules.

Do you need PASMA for podium steps?

All equipment, including podium stairs, should be kept in good working order to ensure working at height safety. Before and after each use, podium steps, such as mobile towers, should be examined to ensure that the equipment is in excellent functioning and that no damage has happened that might jeopardize the user’s safety.

A PASMA training course is recommended for those who will only be operating from mobile towers and will not be installing, removing, adapting, or transferring them.

What is a PASMA ticket?

The PASMA ticket, as it is commonly referred to, is a photo card given to every successful trainee to demonstrate that they have met the association’s requirements.
